What is Autogas?

Autogas is often referred to as Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG). It is a mixture of propane and butane compounds. The reason why LPG has been given the name Autogas is because of its use as a vehicle fuel. The simple physical structure and chemical make-up of the propane and butane compounds ensure that Autogas is a clean burning fuel. Find out how to convert to LPG Cars.

LPG gas becomes liquid when it is slightly compressed. It then changes back to a gas when the pressure is released enough. When the autogas moves into the liquid state, it becomes 250 times denser than if it were retained in the gas state. This, of course, becomes very advantageous when transporting and storing the fuel in certified containers.LPG is produced as a by-product of oil production. Many countries of the world are involved in the production of LPG and the end uses for the product are wide and varied. The U.K is the highest producer of LPG in Europe and of its total LPG production, only a little under 8 percent was used as Autogas.
